FORTHCOMING INDOOR PRACTICES
In order to help the teams to prepare for the indoor league season which starts very shortly we have arranged the following indoor practices at Lytchett Minster School which will be run by Steve Wilson.
Under 8s to Under 11s: Under 12s and 13s
11.30am to 1pm on Saturday 19th September 10am to 11.30am on Saturday 19th September
10am to 11.30am on Saturday 26th September 11.30am to 1pm on Saturday 26th September
11.30am to 1pm on Saturday 3rd October 10am to 11.30am on Saturday 3rd October
There are likely to be further indoor practices arranged before Christmas, particularly for the younger age groups, however these will not take place every week because we do not have the financial resources to do this. Please keep an eye on the junior section of the website where we will issue details of the practices which we arrange. We are aware that Saturday mornings are difficult for some of you and will endeavour to arrange some practices on a Saturday afternoon.
After Christmas our aim will be to commence regular indoor nets from around the beginning of February to the start of the season and details will be sent to you in a newsletter nearer the time.
If you are aware of additional players who would like to join the club, particularly if they are 11 or younger, please encourage them to do so. Further details can be obtained from Dave Porter on 07713 003161 or Nick Williams on 07703 496222 or by email on nicko.williams@yahoo.co.uk If you no longer wish to play please tell us.
JUNIOR INDOOR LEAGUE
During the winter we have entered a team in both the Under 10 and Under 11 indoor league, 2 teams in the Under 12 indoor league and 1 team in the Under 13 indoor league. We set out below the group stage matches for each side. There will also potentially be quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals for sides which make it that far in the competitions. The dates for these matches vary according to where we finish in the group stage but details of the possibilities can be found on the website www.poolecricketclub.co.uk.
All indoor league matches are played at the Dorset Cricket Centre, Hurn Bridge, Hurn, BH23 6DY. If you are selected to play please arrive 15 minutes before the allocated start time as games may start early if the previous game has finished early. You will be contacted a few days before matches.

We have also entered 1 team in the Under 14 league, 3 in the Under 15 league and 2 in the Under 16 league. Fixtures for these teams can be found on the website www.poolecricketclub.co.uk.
As you can see from the above there are not a great number of indoor games during the winter and, because we need a squad of 8 or 9 players per team to cover for unavailability, it is not possible for every player to play in every game. Our aim is to enter at least one team at each age group (including Under 9s) in the summer leagues and it is a priority for the club to coach and develop players to be ready for next season. If we feel that a player is not currently ready to play indoor league this winter (which is much less forgiving than the outdoor league) that does not mean that with a winter’s training that the same player will not play a full part next summer.
STANDING ORDER SUBSCRIPTIONS
A number of the recipients of this newsletter are currently not members of the cricket club, although I appreciate that the majority of you have only recently started playing. If you wish to play regularly, I hope you will understand, that we have to insist on you becoming a member of the club.
We operate a standing order membership scheme whereby Juniors pay £90 per annum (ie, £7.50 per month). This covers all junior matches and practices during the year and for the majority of members represents excellent value for money. The junior section aims to breakeven each year so ultimately how much cricket we can offer depends on how much cash we receive.
If you have been coming along for a month or two, you really should become a member now. Membership forms, including the all important standing order form, can be found on the club website www.poolecricketclub.co.uk. If you have been attending for longer and are not a member please could I appeal to your conscience and ask, in addition to the completed standing order form, for a cheque for £7.50 for each month that you have attended made payable to Poole Town Cricket Club and sent to me Nick Williams at 27 St Osmunds Road, Parkstone, Poole BH14 9JT. If you have any queries relating to this please call me on 07703 496222.
JUNIOR AWARDS EVENING
The junior awards evening is on Friday 30th October at the Hamworthy Club starting at 7pm for 7.30pm.
CRICKET CLUB DINNER
The main cricket club dinner is on Saturday 3rd October at the Salterns Hotel if any parents/players would like to attend. Tickets cost £25 per head and further details can be found on the website or from Gavin Clarke on 07789 924634. Please note that the awards presented on this evening primarily relate to the adult sides but you are very welcome to attend.
JUNIOR SHIRTS
We are aware that a number of players have not yet received the Club shirt which they are entitled to. Unfortunately we have had a problem with the supply of the shirts. However this has now been resolved and we intend to issue the shirts in the next few weeks. Please accept our apologies for the delay.
