Poole Town U15 B Batting and Bowling Stats for 2009 Outdoor Season
Monday 8th June Poole 113/1 vs Wayfarers 112/9 League Michael won the toss and put Wayfarers in to bat. We seem to be able to chase better than putting on a big score to start. Wayfarers started well and were scoring at over 8 an over after 5 overs. Sam Hellier and Mark Rollingston putting on a 39 run partnership until Dominic and Alex struck in successive overs. Wayfarers batted well through the order but our fielding and catching restricted their run chase and ended on 112 for 9. Alex, Sam, Dominic and Michael all picking up 2 wickets. Batting: Sam Leaton 35 rt, Michael 35 rt, Carl 22, Alex 3 no and Sam Bayston 1 no Bowling: Michael 2 - 23, Carl 0 - 20, Jack Galton 0 - 16, Dominic 2 - 17, Alex 2 - 6, Sam 2 - 19, James 1 - 11. Wednesday 3 June Poole 109 vs Hamworthy 184 ECB Cup After being bowled out for 45 in our last match against Hamworthy we went into this match determine to do better. Hamworthy batted first and put on an impressive 184. Catano 49 and Stockley 50. Monday 1st June Poole 123 - 2 vs Broadstone 119 ao (League) Summer is here After being trunced by Hamworthy in the last match we won the toss and put Broadstone in to bat. Good, sharp fielding and bowling. Carl bowling a good line and length, Jack putting a great deal of pace and clearly unsettled the batsman. Alex getting more aggressive and taking 2 wickets while Dom was on a hat trick in his second over and finally getting his third wicket in his last over. Broadstone all out for 119 runs. Sam Leaton opening the batting with Alex retired for 35 and was joined a little later by Carl (35). Michael scored a quick 20 and Jack galton 2 fours in 2 balls saw use through to 123 in the 14th over. Great win and with the quality of play, we deserved it. Monday 25th May Poole 45 ao vs Hamworthy 46 - 1 (Cup) This was one bank holiday we should forget. Hamworthy balled well and held all the catches, we, with the exception of Jack Galton and Pete Singleton, seem to be out of our depth. They were just too good on the day. Wednesday 20th May Poole 105 -9 vs. Swanage 79 all out (Cup) What a difference two days can make. Sunny skies and a light breeze greeted us at the locked gates at Canford Arena. Great playing conditions and a chance to settle the score with a strong Swanage team, this time playing a National Cup match. Swanage came in to a really motivated Poole team, sharp fielding and accurate bowling by Michael and Carl saw the two openings fall for 20 runs, after that it was only Charlie Parsons who tried to defend a aggressive bowling attack and scoring 20 before he was caught off Dom. Michael then wrapped up the innings with 3 wickets for 6 runs in 2 over’s. Pete Singleton showed everyone how to field and must have saved us 20 runs by attacking the ball and anticipating where the batsmen were going to hit the ball. Great to watch. Swanage finally all out for 79 in the 16th over. Batting: Sam Leaton 26, Michael Smith 22, Alex Ayling 16 and Pete Singleton 10. Bowling: Michael Smith 4-20-4, Sam Leaton 2-21-4, Carl Terry 1-14-3, Dominic 1-8-2 Monday 18th May Poole 118 – 4 vs. Swanage 119 - 0 (League) Typical May weather, overcast, gale force winds and we are playing Swanage at Whitecliff. Now I enjoy Whitecliff with the harbour backdrop and moored yachts bobbing on the ripple but tonight was more batten down the hatches type conditions. Swanage looked strong from the first ball and with the wind now even stronger the opening pair started to score at a good rate. Both batsman were dropped at least once and a certain stumping went all wrong giving Swanage four chances, which they took and went on to retire on 37. Charlie Parsons and James Holland wrapped the innings up in the 18th over. Batting: Carl Terry 37, Alex Ayling 20, Michael Smith 17, and Dominic Narramore 14.
Our first game of the season started with a match against the A team. Poole A decided to bat first, with Jordan Randall and Michael Porter each retiring on 50 we set ourselves a big target to get in 20 overs. Our bowling was great for the start of the season, with Sam behind the stumps and fielding sharp we did well to restrict the A team to 165 for 5. Alex started chasing the runs after the first ball and top scored with 25. We batted well but not fast enough to every threaten Poole A and finished our 20 overs with 76 for 6. I was pleased with the commitment from my team and although they all knew we couldn't realistically win, we did better than expected. Next game is against Christchurch on Monday. 11.05.09 Poole Town 92 – 8 vs Christchurch 94 – 2 With another cold, windy night of cricket at Canford Arena we lost the toss and were asked to bat. Alex and Carl opening the batting I settled down to hopefully watch the two of them put on a good start and lead the way for a substantial total to be able to bowl at. Reality was so different, Alex clean bowled on his 4th ball followed by Sam Bayston on the next ball saw our score after the first over at 0 runs for 2 wickets. Dominic followed them after scoring 4 runs and we were 6 runs for 3 wickets in the second over. We still felt confident we could bowl Christchurch out for under 92 after Michael cleaned bowled the opening batsman for 2. Alas it was not to be, at this point we saw fielders ducking under the ball instead of catching it and also letting numerous 4’s through by trying to stop the ball with their feet. Christchurch scored at will and the game was over after 14 overs.
