Answering some of your questions
This page is dedicated to informing prospective clients about general internet and web design issues that normally get glossed over by design companies. We want you to be able to make informed decisions regarding purchasing your website, picking the right designer, and managing your website. |
3 Steps to owning a website
We often get asked what is needed to start up one's own website.
The quick answer to that is
- A domain name - this will be your website address e.g. www.johnsmith.co.uk
We can register your domain for you within one day of notification.
- Hosting - somewhere to put your website so that it is always accessible from the internet.
We provide hosting and your own e-mail account ie. you@yourdomain.co.uk.
- A website design.
We can provide you with one, or if you already have one and want to manage it yourself, we will provide you with the necessary training and FTP details.

Search engine optimisation
Search engine optimisation is crucial if you want visitors to your site. Search engines can't index your website unless it has been made search engine friendly.

Once your site is search engine friendly, you have to submit your site to the major search engines. This is just an invitation to search engines to crawl and index your site. No invitation, no indexing.

When choosing a designer/ company to design your site, make sure that they include search engine optimisation in your design quote because without it your site will be worthless.
